Everything you need to know about Resistor Radio — how it works, what we stand for, and what we expect from our community.
Resistor Radio is an audio-first platform built for independent creators. Music, podcasts, spoken word — all in one place, with the simplest deal in the industry: creators keep 90% of every sale and tip. The remaining 10% covers platform costs and payment processing.
We are part of Resistor Technologies U.S., and we built this platform because we believe creators deserve a fair shake without hidden fees, algorithmic suppression, or label gatekeeping.
Our principles:
Creators under 18 can sign up with parental approval.
Resistor Radio uses Stripe Connect with destination charges. When a listener purchases content or sends a tip:
Stripe's own processing fees (typically 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction) are deducted from the platform's 10% share, not the creator's 90%. Payouts are handled by Stripe on their standard schedule — typically 2 business days after the transaction.
Example: A listener pays $10 for a download.
To receive payouts, creators must complete Stripe onboarding through their dashboard. Stripe handles all tax reporting (1099 forms for U.S. creators).
Resistor Radio does not claim ownership of any content you upload. You retain full rights to your work. By uploading, you confirm that:
If you are a member of a performing rights organization, you can declare your affiliation during signup. You are responsible for reporting your streams and sales to your PRO according to their requirements. Your creator dashboard provides the play count and sales data you need for that reporting.
If you upload a cover of another artist's work, you must:
We require honest disclosure of AI involvement in your content:
Misclassifying AI-generated content as human-created is a violation of our content policy and may result in account suspension.
DMCA & Takedown Requests: If you believe your copyrighted work has been uploaded without authorization, contact us at resistortechnologiesus@proton.me with the content URL, proof of ownership, and a description of the infringement. We will review and act on valid takedown requests promptly.
We follow the same rating approach used by the music industry. Content containing strong language, violence, sexual themes, substance references, or other mature material must be marked as Explicit E during upload.
When marking content explicit, creators must also select specific content warnings:
Explicit content is always hidden from minor accounts, regardless of any other settings. Misclassifying explicit content may result in strikes against your account.
The following content is not allowed on Resistor Radio under any circumstances:
Some content is permitted but must be properly rated and may require additional gating:
Logged-in users can report content using the Report button on any track. Reports are reviewed by our admin team. False or abusive reporting may result in account action.
We require identity verification (KYC) for all creators and age verification for all users. This is not optional, and we make no apologies for it. Verification:
Our privacy commitment: We verify your identity and then destroy the evidence. We keep only the fact that you were verified, not the documents used to verify you. We do not sell, share, or mine user data. We do not want your data — we just need to know you are who you say you are.
When a minor (13–17) signs up as a listener, a parent or guardian must approve the account. The parent receives a link where they can:
Always enforced for minors:
Creators can host live audio rooms for performances, jam sessions, Q&A, or anything else. Audio only — no video, just sound.
Every room gets a shareable 6-character invite code. Creators can also send email invites when creating a room. Share the invite link or code — anyone with it can find and join the room.
Before joining as a performer or creating a room, you will see a mic check screen. This lets you verify your microphone is working and set your levels before going live. Your browser will ask for microphone permission — this is required for performers but not for listeners.
| Category | Supported Formats | Max Size |
|---|---|---|
| Audio | MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG, M4A, AAC | 100 MB |
| Cover Art | JPEG, PNG, WebP | 5 MB |
Audio files are served in their uploaded format. We recommend MP3 (320kbps) or FLAC for best compatibility and quality.
Creating an account and streaming content is completely free. Creators pay nothing to upload or host their content. The only fee is the 10% platform fee on sales and tips, which covers Stripe processing costs and platform operations.
We require creator verification to prevent fake accounts, impersonation, and fraud. It also ensures every creator is a real, accountable person. Your ID document is permanently deleted after verification — we only keep the fact that you were verified.
After you submit your ID for verification, our admin team reviews it manually. Approval typically happens within 24–48 hours, but may take longer during high-volume periods.
Yes, but you must mark the upload as a cover, credit the original artist, and obtain any necessary mechanical licenses. You are solely responsible for licensing fees and royalties owed to the original rights holder.
Misclassifying explicit content puts it in front of minor accounts whose parents did not consent to that material. This is taken seriously. Repeated misclassification will result in strikes and may lead to account suspension.
Yes, but you must honestly disclose the level of AI involvement (human-created, AI-assisted, or AI-generated). Listeners and other creators deserve to know. Misclassifying AI-generated content as human-created is a violation of our content policy.
Payouts go directly to your connected Stripe account. You must complete Stripe onboarding through your creator dashboard. Stripe handles payouts on their standard schedule (typically 2 business days). Stripe also handles tax reporting for U.S. creators.

Listeners aged 13–17 can create an account with parental approval. The parent receives a link where they select which content types and genres their child can access. Explicit content is always blocked for minor accounts. Children under 13 cannot create accounts.
No. We collect the minimum information needed to operate the platform (email, display name, date of birth). KYC documents are deleted after verification. We do not sell, share, or mine user data. We do not run ads. We do not track you across the web.
